Wind turbine cables of Walsin Lihwa are highly resistant to tension and twist (reference standard: TICW-01), and their sheath are resistant to abrasion, flame, oils, ozone, weathers, wetness, UV, and a temperature as low as -40℃. The design and test of such cables comply with DIN VDE 0282, HD22, TICW01, IEC60811, IEC60332, UL1277, etc.

    Wind turbine power cables send power to the bottom of wind towers, which connect with power grids and urban power systems. Wind turbine power cables of Walsin Lihwa meet the TICW/01 requirement of the Testing & Inspection Station for Cable and Wire (TICW) of the People’s Republic of China. Therefore, they are resistant to twist under normal temperatures, e.g., a twist of 180 degrees and minus 180 degrees for more than 10,000 times from 25 to 30℃ during testing, and they are also resistant to twist at a temperature of -40℃ during testing.
     
    Twist resistance is highly critical to wind turbine power cables because they move along with turbine blades during power generation and they may break to cause turbine failures, fires, and other accidents if twist resistance is not strong enough. In order to ensure reliable twist resistance, ongoing cable structure R&D at Walsin Lihwa has obtained a patent in Taiwan while patents in Mainland China and the US are being applied for.
     
    The power cables and wires produced by Walsin Lihwa meet the TICW 01 specification of Mainland China’s Testing & Inspection Station for Cable and Wire (TICW), passing a 12-cm torsional test at 1,440 degrees clockwise and counterclockwise as a cycle.  They have passed10,000 cycles of the test from 25 to 30 degrees C as well as 2,000 cycles in 40 degrees C below zero.
     
    The  cabin cables for wind turbine produced by Walsin Lihwa also meet international standards such as HD21.14 S1, HD21.2, IEC 60811, EN 50627, and EN 60684.

In the Underwriters Laboratories’ certification category of ZGZN, wind turbine tray cables of Walsin Lihwa have been certificated for being resistant to cold bending, oils, sunshine, and twisting at a temperature of -40℃.

PV cables acquire TUV, UL USE-2, UL PV and S-JET certifications, which evidence such cables’ suitability for the solar energy industry.

    Walsin Lihwa PV cables have TUV, UL USE-2, UL PV and S-JET certifications. TUV Certification is for the European market; UL Certification is for the US market. S-JET Certification is for the Japan market.

    As PV modules always operate under high temperatures, the cables and wires for such modules must be reistent to heat, sunlight, and wetness. The Underwriter Laboratories (UL), for example, requires USE-2 cables and PV cables to be resistant a temperature higher than 90°C wet or dry. PV cables are installed outdoors and must pass the 720-hour weather resistance test and the -40°C low-temperature resistance test.

    Because the structure of PV cables is relevetively simple, solar power plants could select uncertified PV cables as they may not try hard enough to understand such products. The greatest shortcoming of uncertified PV cables is their short product life expectancy, and replacing uncertified PV cables is very costly. On the other hand, certificated PV cables save maintenance costs significantly to enable more cost-efficient solar power generation.
