Walsin Lihwa Corporation announced today a cooperation agreement signed with the US-based KAAI for the two parties’ joint development of integrated light source packaging solutions. The three-year program will develop a new generation of environmentally-sound photonics applications. Walsin Lihwa also invites three founders of KAAI as science advisors – professors from Solid State Lighting & Display Center, University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), including the “father of blue light” Shuji Nakamura, as well as Dr. Steven Denbaars and Dr. James Speck who also attended the signing ceremony.
Ching Hu, President of Walsin Lihwa Micro-Optical-Mechanical-Electronic Group, and Richard Craig, CEO of KAAI, presided over the signing today. KAAI is world renowned for demonstrating the first continuous wave green Gallium Nitride lasers. According to President Ching Hu, the advanced blue and green laser technology at KAAI will be critical to Walsin Lihwa¡¦s integrated light source business development, and the R&D cooperation between the companies is expected to effectively share resources and talents to generate an amazing synergy.

Board meeting of Walsin Lihwa approves 2009 financial statements with NT$0.47 Earnings Per Share
Walsin Lihwa Corporation held board meeting today(March 15), which approved the company’s 2009 financial statements audited by CPA. The Net income after tax reached approx. NT$1.44 billion with EPS of NT$0.47. The board meeting also decided to hold the annual shareholders’ meeting at 9:00 am on June 4 (Fri,), at the Grand Victoria Hotel.
With the gradual economy recovery beginning the 2nd quarter last year, copper and nickel prices have been increasing to help generate outstanding sales of copper and stainless steel products at Walsin Lihwa. The stand-alone operating revenue of year 2009 is NT$61.41 billion with the consolidated operating revenue of NT$132.96 billion. The stand-alone gross profit is NT$5.11 billion with the consolidated gross profit of NT$9.68 billion. The stand-alone income from operations is NT$3.71 billion with the consolidated income from operations of NT$5.45 billion. Net income after tax is NT$1.44 billion and Earnings per share is NT$0.47.

Walsin Lihwa Announced February 2010 Sales Report
Walsin Lihwa Corporation announced its net operating revenue for February 2010, on a stand-alone basis, was NT$6.2 billion, an increase of 72% from February 2009. January through February net operating revenue for 2010 totaled NT$12.3 billion, an increase of 95% compared to 2009.
The company’s consolidated net operating revenue for February 2010 was NT$ 13.5 billion, an increase of 57% from February 2009. January through February revenue for 2010 totaled NT$28.4 billion, an increase of 107% compared to the previous year.
